I set this up on my nightstand and the simple act of raking the sand after a long day really does bring a sense of calm. The traditional karesansui design is beautiful and surprisingly effective.

The raked sand actually got me to stop checking my phone for a few minutes after lunch. I like that there's no water or plants to fuss over, just the little rake and stones. It's become my small ritual before jumping back into emails.

I keep this on my desk and find myself smoothing the sand between calls without even thinking about it. The lack of water or real plants is exactly the point, it's just abstract lines and quiet.
